They say that Sevilla has a special color and a visit to its streets and its people  transforms us for the rest of our lifes. They say the Sevilla flamenco with its Moorish influences, captives you and has "duende". It is said that when you visit Sevilla, you can never stop thinking about it. Surely all this is true, but what certainly will surprise you if you tour of this Andalucian city, is the character of the people, open and jovial, sometimes irreverent, but always fun, as well as the "tapas" (small quantities of food) for all the drinks you order at a bar, Sevilla will undoubtedly assume a spell for you.

The first thing to know when you visit Andalusia and Sevilla, in particular, is that its people are extremely open people and given to the fun, usually much more open here than in other areas of the Iberian peninsula, the Andalusian and Sevillian is given to the rhythm and the revelry.

Another thing you should know when visiting the city is the great rivalry between two football teams in the city, between Sevilla and Betis. This historic rivalry (even dangerous) has always been produced in the Andalusian capital. Although in recent years it seems to be a bit lower in intensity, due the bad years that are doing the Betis club. If you love football, do not miss the opportunity to enjoy a classic clash between the rivals.

What characterizes the Andalusian people? Their passion for flamenco and Christian processions (probably the largest stronghold of believers in the country, a country that usually is increasingly moving towards a loss of connection to the church). These two factors that have a priori nothing in common, will be very useful if you concur with them on the date you travel to Sevilla. The Sevilla flamenco and culture at its best you can see in the April Fair and the Christian exaltation Easter processions. Even if you only want to see flamenco, all year long you can visit "tablaos flamencos" (quite expensive in itself, where a plate of ham and a wine you can get between 30 and 50 € , but if you like a spectacle worth). Flamenco shows as Los Gallos in Plaza de Santa Cruz, El Arenal near the Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza or Las Brujas in the neighborhood of San Roque are classic places, but in all cases, take into account you will pay not less than 30 € .

Visits you must make in Sevilla (very well protected from heat in summer, as temperatures become truly suffocating far exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in the sun), but wheter it is summer or winter, a visit from city center mounted in the traditional horse carriages is a good experience (albeit expensive, more than 60 €). A good place to start the ride is near the Place de la Giralda, for exploring the old town. The driver normally acts as guide and tell you details about the places they visit, they can choose various routes. Recommended tours: the Cathedral of Santa Maria in Sevilla with its tower, the Giralda, Plaza of Spain and Maria Luisa Park. The Gothic Cathedral houses the supposed tomb of Christopher Columbus, is a beautiful building built on the ruins of the Great Mosque in Sevilla Arabic. Once there, it's impossible not to climb the Giralda (priced very popular to visit, 2 €), the current bell tower of the Cathedral and old Arab minaret of the mosque, from where you can see the whole city. From there go south to visit the Real Alcazar in the Plaza del Triunfo (the beautiful Moorish-style palace, the oldest in use in Europe) and then the Parque Maria Luisa and the Plaza of Spain.

Another experience only recommended if you like bulls and are not susceptible to pain and death of an animal, is a bullfight in Sevilla. And in the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, you will find the main square.

A stroll through the city itself will allows you to taste its food. The typical Andalusian cuisine is heavily influenced by what was mentioned at the beginning of the "culture of tapas", in this particular city where the fun and social life is great in bars, tapas of all kinds are here not just a snack but a meal in itself. Tapas share the limelight with the wine and ham as usual gastronomy we will find in Sevilla. And just, as main actors on the tapas, are unavoidable green olives, slices of cheese or ham, fried sausages, squid and dumplings, potato tortillas and even callos (tripe), all foods are combined for this light lunch eaten always standing up, which allows the Sevillian (and tourists) to maintain the tradition of informal chat while enjoying these typical Spanish specialties.

A walk along the Guadalquivir river will show us a more relaxed and romantic image of this vibrant city, southern Iberian and a visit to one of its major monuments such as the Torre del Oro (the price of admission is almost symbolic, 1 €) that provides an important cultural part of the city of Sevilla. At the foot of the Torre del Oro, there are cruises from the pier offering scenic drives traversing the classical and modern Sevilla, the old bridges and the district of Triana and the pavilions of Expo 92 and the modern buildings, a wonderful trip for kids and adults.

In Sevilla we will find friendly people and fun, people who enjoy night life, party and fun, we will find entertainment, warmth, history, folklore, music and good food. In Sevilla we will find a myriad of shades, an assortment of smells, tastes, traditions and modernity, that will let us discover the "duende" that it is said the city has, if that special color always mentioned it is true, if we have been haunted as well as other visitors that throughout its history have come. And if we still have time and energy, we will easily find what to do if we decided to stay some more days in the city, also enjoying of those excelent hotels of Sevilla. Thus, we will have time to give ourselves a break on the outskirts of the city and visit the many attractions that the province has prepared us.
