If anything defines Ibiza (Eivissa in its official name in Catalan) is its nightlife, not in vain that he called the island that never sleeps, for having most funny discoteques and liveliest night places of Balearic Islands and probably of all southern Europe. You'll find nightly entertainment options throughout the length and breadth of the island. Now, if you plan to visit Ibiza do not think of that only as an island for young people, festival and continuous alcohol circulating to late at night. Ibiza goes far beyond this stereotypical image we have of it, Ibiza is a holiday, yes, but also relax, horseback, nature, gastronomy, if you leave the island to soak you in the five senses, it will surprise you and will add value to this island with a offer much more complete than is commonly thought, always faced to international tourism.

A first recommendation is about the way to move between different places we want to visit, obviously this will depend much of the style of travel that we plan, but here are some recommendations for transportation. Obviously we will have reached the island by sea or by air, by sea if we come we may have brought there our own car, or not. If we have a way of reaching the island, lodging in the hotel we booked and then we have planned not to move ourselves much more than to go to the beach, restaurants and from there to the beach again, a walk, to discos and so back again, so the car we will not be needed. The car is not necessary even if we want to do a short stroll across in the island, because we can also move by bus (or taxi). We must remember that Ibiza is a very tiny island, with very few bus lines and very little regularity. However to take there our own car or rent one in the area can be vital if we want to move around the island with ease and travel by the most beautiful places it in a more intense type of tourism, otherwise we will be very limited in our movements.

First of all, and not dwell too much on this, I am leaving you two links where you can book hotels safely and with the best price, right now. One is, as in every city, the classic list of hotels in Ibiza that is always available at the Tourist Club, for friends and visitors, which I particularly recommend. On the other hand, if you like to book away from these pages, you have booking.com directory, for which I am also leaving the link here. But let's back to the description of the island.

One thing is the island of Ibiza as a whole and another one is the city of Ibiza in particular. If you go by car we can say that it will take you about three quarters of an hour to visit the island from end to end so if you love to drive along for several kilometers, this island is not exactly for you, because distances of more than 20 kilometers is rare unless you want to start giving again and again turnings around to the island.

Once you have visited the center of the city (where you can get lost walking around their streets of urban medieval distribution, dressed with the simple architecture of the island), we recommend leaving it and go to visit one (or many) of its many hidden and wonderful coves where you can swim or take a dip in a place of indescribable serenity. There are plenty of coves, each more beautiful, but recommend one in particular would be a sin, you must discover for yourself and choose yours in particular! If the beach, sea and sand does not reach you and want to continue enjoying wonderful views of the sea you can visit the caves of Can Marça about 20 km from the city (8 € adult entry), some pretty caves (a bit forced into the artificial) that are worth knowing for the fantastic views you get while you descend on the outside. On the night surely you'll feel attracted by a stroll along the pier among the locals and trendy restaurants, where you will also have an amazing view across the bay.

If we move away from the sea, but even so to keep ourselves still breathing the taste of the Mediterranean and, in this case, to live reminiscent of the hippies of the island we should not miss one of their many markets hippies (most famously of Es Canar). And then it should not miss a drink or soft drink and chill out music, like it or not, relishing an evening of magnificent sunsets, why not the famous and very well-known Café del Mar?

A list mode and if you want to spend several days in Ibiza (probably will happen) we recommend you visit the Renaissance walls known as Dalt Vila, which forms the tourist emblem of the city, built by the 1550s. This awesome military construction, together with Ibiza's biodiversity has earned the UNESCO declaration as World Heritage Site. In an exceptional landscape value are the natural reserve of Ses Salines (Las Salinas). Las Salinas is a large area southwest of the island with an ecosystem of high biodiversity where in summer the lakes dry up, leaving a layer of salt that is extracted by traditional methods.

The last thing we name you in this guide is the accomodation, which like everything else in the island is relatively affordable. Affordable does not mean that everything is cheap, but rather that there are bargains for all budgets. But if your pocket can afford it, we recommend that you stay at the hotel Insotel Fenicia Prestige, a fabulous five-star hotel located in the town of Santa Eulalia des Riu in addition to their great services, it will surprise you because of the Spa and its water services.

Before we leave you to discover the island by yourself, if you have time and budget, why not an inter-islands trip?, Formentera?, Mallorca?, ... Do you join?
