Buenos Aires, known as the most European city in Latin America introduced itself to us as a cosmopolitan city where you can find influences of a plenty of cultures from immigrants who arrived during the last century.

The city that never sleeps, as it was known during the 70's, still has a strong cultural scene to suit all tastes. Buenos Aires Tango is much more than books and theatre plays, is a city where you will find an option for everyone. That eclectic, is the city that has its doors open for tourists throughout the year, but is best visited from March to November where temperatures are much more friendly than during the summer.

The capital of Argentina, has a transportation system available to know the landmarks of Buenos Aires, so you can avoid hiring a car. The streets tend to have too much traffic and make it tedious. So it's best to move on the subway (metro), that way you can win some time. Anyway it is recommended not to travel at peak times (between 8 and 10 am and 18 to 19) to travel comfortably.

Accommodation

Most hotels are located in the downtown area of the city where you can walk to some points or postcards of Buenos Aires as famous as the Obelisk, the historical town where you will find the Casa Rosada (pink house), seat of national government, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the seat of government of the City of Buenos Aires, Casa de la Cultura, the Legislature of Buenos Aires and Plaza de Mayo. Once there, you'll notice that several streets end on that square. If you take any of those streets toward north, you will be walking through the financial area of the city (streets 25 de Mayo and San Martín), southward (Defense or Balcarce street), in this direction you will reach the bohemian neighborhood of San Telmo, or to the east, where you get to the south side of Puerto Madero, one of the most tourist areas, where you can eat with excellent river views.

Other people choose to stay other places, such as Puerto Madero, where it operates one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, such as the Faena Hotel, where you can also go for a drink or watch a show. Faena Universe is one of the most exclusive places in Buenos Aires.

Increasingly fashionable, Palermo is leading the trend in lodging. Palermo is a nice neighborhood to stay in a hostel like Bed and breaksfast or Guest House. It is close to exclusive clubs, interior design stores and clothing ones and a multitude of restaurants that include the most unexpected cuisine. But that is not all, in Palermo also have one of the most amazing green lungs of the city, where hundreds of people come running, walking, skating, playing sports, like aerobics classes, or hockey. The area north of the city also has its charms to show up.

Where to go

Whichever the place you choose, Buenos Aires is full of choices for all tastes, ages and budgets. But some of the things that you should not miss are the following. Going to a milonga, that is to say places where you can dance and listen to tango or walk through the neighborhood of Gardel, eating a roast beef, walking along one of the numerous craft fairs, wander around the Ecological Reserve, go to the court to see a football game, attend one of the open-air shopping centers or malls, lose a whole afternoon wandering at the Botanical Garden, and depending on the weather, seize a major cultural event as the Book Fair or the Independent Film Festival de Buenos Aires. In summer, free concerts are performed in the south of the city. In addition, Buenos Aires is often the scene of many mega concerts and massive festivals.

Some people are choosing Buenos Aires as a destination for cosmetic tourism, this type of tourism, includes the posibility to perform a cosmetic treatment such as plastic surgery or dental treatments, taking advantage that the country has top professionals at much more affordable rates than in the rest of the world.

Lately, have been installed several Spanish schools for foreigners, which is why many young people come to this city to have higher Education. From Buenos Aires, you can go out on tours to different places, for example, Colonia, in Uruguay or to the Paraná Delta in Tigre in the north of Buenos Aires. The whole Tigre area is worth knowing.

The capital Buenos Aires has everything, it also has a Casino, the famous Floating Casino in Puerto Madero. It is the only one of its type, becuase gambling is prohibited, that is why it works on water and not on the ground of the city of Buenos Aires.

Where to go with children

Children also have their place in this city, for example, if they are in Puerto Madero, is a good option for them to play in the games in places that are here, by far the best in town. You also have to visit two zoos, the City of Buenos Aires one and nearby the Temaiken, one of the best South American bio-parks, installed in Escobar area, easily accessible from the city. Another alternative to make with kids is to take the Children's Museum, located in the Abasto Shopping. This place is a small town, for children to learn playing the roles they are to fulfill when they grow up, from soccer players, television hosts, bank tellers, fast food restaurants employees and more.

Gay Tourism

Other tourists who are feeling drawn to Buenos Aires are gay people. After the enactment of the Right to Gay Marriage in the City of Buenos Aires, many tourists in the world want to marry here. From this, in Buenos Aires increased the gayfriendly circuit with a series of hotels, hairdressers and specialists in cosmetic health with discounts for gay travelers.

You see, Buenos Aires has become the focus for many tourists without many natural beauties. Letting go, by the sensuality of its cobbled streets, the suggestive rhythm of 2 X 4, or the deafening whoop from the soul that the fan yells when his favourite team scores a goal, the flavors burst in your mouth, that realize the variety of cultures that exist is its people. Everithing in one place. Welcome to Buenos Aires, The Queen of Plata River, many cities in one.
